Thanking him for a book (probably his Songs of Life and Death), reporting that although he has only a "partial acquaintance" with it, Rossetti can say that it "displays the same unfailing command of accomplished workmanship as your other volumes." Wondering about Payne's future work, and suggesting that he never "write except to embody a conception which you feel sure to be a separate and distinct one."
